Enjoy England's Classifications

2007 saw the replacement of the existing scheme for grading the quality of accommodation across England, Scotland and Wales, with a new scheme implemented by Enjoy England (formerly the English Tourism Council). The new scheme uses a different level of grading which meant some establishments saw a fall in their grading although this did not necessarily mean a fall in standards at that establishment. The new scheme also replaces the old diamond symbols (used to grade guest houses and self catering accommodation) with start symbols. For example, a four diamond rating might now be re-assessed under the new standards as three stars..

Enjoy England's ratings made easy:

Simple, practical, no frills
Well presented and well run
Good level of quality and comfort
Excellent standard throughout
Exceptional with a degree of luxury

AA Ratings:

In addition to the new Enjoy England ratings there is also accommodation that has been inspected by the AA. They also use the new star ratings and the standards are in line with Enjoy England.
