James Graham breeds Peele's Norfolk Black Turkeys on Rookery Farm at Thuxton in Norfolk from stock originally saved from extinction by his grandfather. Dairy farmers Jeff and Chris Reade and their four sons established Sgroib Ruadh farm in Tobermory on the Isles of Mull eighteen years ago. Since then they have had a profound impact on the food economy of the island with their acclaimed Isle of Mull cheese.
BEST FOOD RETAILER ** Toby and Louise Tobin-Dougan of St Martin's Bakery on the Isles of Scilly set up shop four years ago to supply islanders with the finest local foods. ** WINNERS David and Doreen Garson of Flett Butchers in Stromness on Orkney sell local meat, cheeses, and fruit and vegetables, and are highly regarded for the service they offer to the community Tim and Shiela Beswick sell a range of fine foodstuffs, including local meats and cheeses, at Real Meats in Saltburn-by-the-Sea in Cleveland where they have been praised for introducing a new language of food to the community. |
