Lifeboat Gets 175th Anniversary Boost

The St. Mary’s Lifeboat has received a valuable boost to its funding in the form of Free Fuel for 1999. Mr. Victor Stimson, Coastal Bunkering Manager for Fuel and Marine Marketing Limited (FAMM), a Texaco/Chevron company, visited Scilly during June and presented a cheque which guaranteed the supply of free fuel for 1999. Ten tons have already been bunkered in Scilly and this will be replenished as the need arises. This provision is being assisted by the Isles of Scilly Steamship Co., who are transporting the fuel free of charge. FAMM is already supplying fuel to SWEB’s power station on St. Mary’s.
